Managing your feelings without stifling your heart
A one day workshop by Gael Lindenfield and Malcolm Vandenburg
Being in harmony with the emotional side of yourself is an essential element of self-confidence.
It is also one of the most important keys to being able to manage a pressurised life in a positive way.
How can we feel (or look) completely self-assured if we are worried about the possibility of losing emotional
control? How can we feel confident in the face of challenge if we cannot trust ourselves to consistently maintain
high levels of positive emotional energy to fuel us through the difficult times?
The publication of Daniel Goleman’s Emotional Confidence in the mid 90’s created a sudden upsurge in interest
in the world of business, in the management of feeling. Leading edge companies began to question their recruitment
and training policies, and inevitably, occupational psychologists started to develop psychometric tests to measure
levels of EQ.
Now the subject has caught mass media attention and created an even wider interest. We are being consistently told
that the modern world is emotionally illiterate and incompetent. Gael Lindenfield developed this Emotional Confidence
building programme as a practical response to this justified concern.
